Alonso R. Molina

Hi, my name is Alonso. I am a PhD Candidate in Philosophy at UCLA. My research is in philosophy of mind and cognitive science, with a focus on attention and spontaneous thought. My work explores how attention structures psychological capacities such as introspection, memory, imagination, and others. I also have interests in philosophy of memory, epistemology of mind, philosophy of science, and Latin American philosophy.

Before and alongside the PhD, I’ve taught across very different settings: university lecture halls, continuation schools, and juvenile detention facilities. That range has shaped how I teach now — less interested in covering material than in following where a real question leads.

Outside of research, I split my attention less philosophically: I have a cat, play video games, and have growing interest in what my work on attention and thought might have to say about AI systems.
